This is a 1956 Continental Mark II and there is a NACA duct on the top of the quarter panel bellow the roof. So were there any earlier cars with them?

It was developed in 1945 (according to Wiki) so something before the '50s I would guess.

Yeah, for fighter planes, but new car designs didn't arrive until the later 40's, and the Jet Age didn't really arrive until the 50's. Someone knows, but I don't.

Who wants to tell me what NACA stands for?

I'm not sure the answer to that question, but I did find this little piece of sexiness while searching.

National advisory committee for aeronautics. Precursor to NASA, developed a great many things, but probably most notably still used today airfoils and ducts

Interesting thread Here.
I couldn't find much on production road cars, but I'd assume late '50s/early '60s.

Not sure if the Lincoln air inlet is technically a NACA duct or just happens to resemble one.
I can't think of a good candidate for the first. When in doubt, ask EVO.

OK, cool. Now I don't have to feel guilty about missing yesterday since there wasn't anything to miss.

Yeah, I got tired of people complaining about not being on the weekend, so I said fuck it.

Indeed.
Kinja isn't much better these days, but oppo's great as usual.

Yes, it seems the development will never end. What can ya do?...
Oppo is still great. It's not the software or the site, it's the people that make Oppo what it is.

So I guess you just couldn't stay away from us?
Understandable.
